Sikaflex®-522 Caravan: hybrid adhesive and sealant

Sikaflex®-522 Caravan is a versatile one-component hybrid adhesive designed for durable sealing joints. It excels in the strong, durable and watertight fixing of roof cable entries and roof racks.

It offers excellent adhesion, weather resistance and paintability. Use activator 205 for better adhesion.

It is manufactured according to the quality standards ISO 9001 and 14001, as well as the "Responsible Care" program.

Curing mode

Sikaflex®-522 Caravan cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture. The curing reaction slows down as the temperature drops, due to the decrease in atmospheric humidity. If Sikaflex®-522 Caravan is used with a traditional polyurethane adhesive, the latter must be fully cured before applying a sealant joint with Sikaflex®-522 Caravan.

Areas of application

Sikaflex®-515 Caravan adheres well to many substrates and is suitable for permanent flexible joints. It is suitable for wood, metals, primers and two-component paints, ceramics and plastics. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for special applications.

Chemical resistance

Sikaflex®-522 Caravan is resistant to UV radiation, fresh water, seawater, aqueous detergents, fuels, mineral oils and vegetable and animal fats. It is not resistant to organic and mineral acids, alkaline solutions and solvents.

Application method

Surfaces must be clean, dry, free of grease and dust. Improve adhesion with Sika® Aktivator-205

Cleaning

Uncured Sikaflex®-522 Caravan residues can be cleaned with Sika® Remover-208 or a suitable solvent. Once cured, remove mechanically. Clean hands and skin immediately with Sika® Clean wipes or a suitable soap.

Sanding and painting

Allows light sanding and can be painted with most paints. Test compatibility with the cured adhesive beforehand.
