DC connector
Depending on the application, lugs, eyelets or a cigarette lighter plug (all included) can be connected to the charger.
Less maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use: the trickle-charge mode
The trickle-charge mode is activated when the battery has not been used for 24 hours. During trickle-charge mode, the float charge voltage is reduced to 13.2 V to reduce gassing and positive plate corrosion. Once a week, the voltage is raised to the absorption level to 'equalise' the battery. This function prevents electrolyte stratification and sulphation, which are major causes of premature battery failure.
Overheating and reverse polarity connection protection
The output current will be reduced if the temperature rises to 40ºC, but the charger will not fail. The output relay serves as reverse polarity connection protection.
Five LEDs for status and mode indication
When the charger is connected to the AC supply, the STAND-BY LED will light up. No voltage will be present at the output.
After connecting it to a battery (battery voltage must be higher than 8.5 V), three charge profiles can be selected using the MODE button:
Until the battery is fully charged, the CHARGE LED will be lit.
After the charging process is complete, the red FULL LED will light up.
In case of reverse polarity connection, the red ! LED will light up.
If the red STANDBY LED remains lit, even after pressing the MODE button, the connection to the battery is interrupted.
The charger always starts in STANDBY mode if it is connected to the AC supply.
