Especially in case of cloudy skies, when light intensity is constantly changing, an ultra-fast MPPT controller will improve energy yield by up to 30 % compared to PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charge controllers and by up to 10 % compared to slower MPPT controllers.
Load output
Deep discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting up to all loads to the load output. The load output will disconnect the load when the battery has been discharged to a preset voltage. If the charge voltage is not set to the preset voltage, the BatteryLife algorithm will monitor the lowest battery voltage and will take corrective action if needed. For more information, see BatteryLife under 'Software'. The load output is protected against short circuit.
Battery Life: intelligent battery management
When a solar charge controller cannot recharge the battery to its full capacity every day, this usually means that the battery is constantly switched between a 'partly charged' state and the 'end of discharge' state. This mode of operation (frequent incomplete charge) will degrade lead-acid batteries within weeks or months. For more information, see BatteryLife under 'Software'.
