A solar charger recovers the energy from your solar panels, and stores it in your 12V or 24V lead-acid batteries. Using the latest and fastest technology, the BlueSolar maximizes this energy "harvest", managing it intelligently to achieve a full charge as quickly as possible. The BlueSolar maintains your battery's condition and extends its lifespan.
By constantly monitoring the voltage and current output of your solar (PV) panels, MPPT technology ensures that every available bit of energy from your panels is recovered for storage. The benefit of this technology is particularly noticeable in partly cloudy conditions, where light intensity is constantly changing.
Remotely control and supervise the many functions of your BlueSolar MPPT charger by connecting a Bluetooth dongle (available as an option) and pairing it with your smartphone or other device via VictronConnect. If your installation is connected to the internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) allows you to access the full capability of your MPPT, anytime, anywhere: both services are free. For remote installations without internet access or nearby phone signal, you may be able to monitor your MPPT by pairing it via Bluetooth to a device with LoRaWAN technology (long-range wide area network), available as an option.
The intelligent load output function prevents damage from using "flat" batteries. You can set the voltage level to which the BlueSolar will disconnect a load, if necessary—preventing any battery from being drained excessively. And the most remarkable feature: the BlueSolar will try to achieve a 100% recharge every day. If it cannot, for instance during periods of bad weather, it will increase the load disconnect voltage level, day by day, until the recharge is complete. We call this feature BatteryLife, as it keeps the battery healthy and extends its lifespan.
When a solar charge controller cannot recharge the battery to its full capacity every day, it results in the battery being constantly cycled between a "partly charged" and a "deep discharge" state. This mode of operation (irregular full recharge) will damage a lead-acid battery within weeks or months. The BatteryLife algorithm will monitor the battery's state of charge, and if necessary, will slightly increase the load disconnect voltage level each day that passes by (i.e. it will disconnect the load earlier), until the recovered solar energy is sufficient to recharge the battery to almost 100%. From that point on, the load disconnect voltage level is modulated so that a nearly 100% recharge is achieved at least once a week.
