Description

Ultra-fast maximum power point voltage (MPPT) tracking.
Especially in cloudy conditions, when the light intensity is constantly changing, an ultra-fast MPPT controller will improve energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.

Advanced maximum power point detection in shaded conditions
In case of shaded conditions, there may be two or more power maxima on the power-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to lock onto a locally optimal power point that is not necessarily the overall optimal power point. The innovative SmartSolar algorithm will always maximize energy harvest by locking onto the optimal power point.

Exceptional conversion efficiency No fan. Maximum efficiency exceeding 98%.

Flexible charge algorithm
Fully programmable charge algorithm (see Software section on our website) and eight pre-programmed algorithms that can be selected with a rotary switch (see manual for details).

Extensive electronic protection

  • Over-temperature protection and power derating if temperature is too high.
  • PV reverse polarity and PV short circuit protection.
  • PV output reverse current protection.

Internal temperature compensation
Compensates charge voltage (Float and Absorption) as a function of temperature.

Bluetooth Smart built-in: no need for a dongle
The wireless solution for configuring, monitoring and updating the controller with smartphones and tablets. Uses the latest Smart network technology to communicate with other Smart devices.

VE.Direct
For a wired data connection to a Color Control panel, Venus GX, PC or other devices.

Remote on/off
To be switched on or off by high level logic, e.g. by an engine run/stop signal.

Programmable relay
Can be programmed to switch on or off any auxiliary load, for instance to signal an alarm or to switch off a battery charger. To override the relay, see the VEConfigure3 software.

Optional: batterySafe
The BatterySafe state ensures that the battery is not overcharged if the charge controller fails. It limits the battery voltage to a safe level, while allowing the controller to continue to operate.

Optional: remote display
Remove the rubber seal that protects the plug on the front of the controller and plug in the display unit to access all the features.
