VRLA is short for Valve Regulated Lead Acid, meaning the battery is sealed. Gas will escape through safety valves only in case of overcharging or cell failure

VRLA batteries are maintenance-free.

Sealed Gel (VRLA) batteries
In this type of battery, the electrolyte is immobilized in the form of a gel. Gel batteries generally have a longer lifespan and better cycling capability than AGM batteries.

Low self-discharge

Thanks to the use of lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials, Victron VRLA batteries can be stored for a long time without needing to be recharged. The self-discharge rate is less than 2% per month at 20ºC. Self-discharge doubles for every 10ºC increase in temperature. In cool conditions, Victron VRLA batteries can therefore be stored for up to a year without recharging.

Exceptional deep discharge recovery
Victron VRLA batteries have exceptional recovery capacity even after deep or prolonged discharge. However, it should be noted that frequent deep or prolonged discharges have a detrimental effect on the lifespan of any lead/acid battery, and Victron batteries are no exception.

This type of battery requires careful use to benefit from its advertised lifespan.
Many parameters can affect their lifespan and render your batteries unusable prematurely (incomplete charge cycles, deep discharges, excessive discharges, high temperatures, etc.).
This battery has a basic 1-year warranty, which can be extended by 1 year if a battery controller (type BMV700 / BMV712) is purchased simultaneously, as this can provide usage history in case of a warranty claim for defects.
