The Victron Skylla-TG 24/30 GMDSS charger is specially designed to provide all the monitoring and alarm data required for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), developed by the International Maritime Organization to improve maritime distress and safety communications.
Input voltages
This charger is suitable for a wide range of input voltages in both AC (185-264V AC 45-65Hz) and DC (180-400V DC)
Reliable power supply
The Skylla TG can be used as a power supply
Simplified installation
This charger provides all the necessary monitoring and alarm data. The battery and GMDSS systems are connected directly to the charger. Data and alarms are displayed on a digital panel (VE.Net GMDSS panel, to be ordered separately). A standard eight-wire UTP cable connects the charger to the panel. The system is pre-programmed for GMDSS, but simple adjustments can be made if necessary.
Lead batteries
This charger is suitable for any type of 24V lead battery with a total capacity between 400Ah and 800Ah, and the charging voltage can be precisely adjusted according to the battery system used.
Adaptive charging
The Skylla TG features a 3-stage controlled charging function for faster and more accurate charging. Furthermore, these chargers can be used as a direct power supply if batteries or large buffer capacitors are not available.
2 independent outputs
The Skylla TG 24V models have two isolated outputs. The main output delivers 30A, and the second auxiliary output is intended for recharging a starter battery and provides a slightly lower voltage with a current of 4A.
Thermal adjustment
Each Skylla TG charger is equipped with a battery temperature sensor that automatically adjusts the charging voltage according to the battery temperature, which increases its lifespan.
Loss compensation
This charger is equipped with voltage sensing to compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance, ensuring the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.
Battery status indication
The Skylla GMDSS charger has a built-in battery controller that monitors battery capacity and can indicate the "time remaining" in case of a power failure.
In summary, Victron's Skylla-TG GMDSS chargers are reliable and suitable solutions for GMDSS applications, with advanced monitoring and control features to ensure the safety and performance of battery systems in demanding marine environments.
