Description
The SmartSolar MPPT RS charge controllers are Victron solutions for large series-connected PV arrays charging 48V DC battery banks. This product is ideal for large grid-connected or off-grid battery systems.
Models available in 5.76 kW and 11.52 kW; features include a wide solar input voltage range operating on 80-450 VDC, independent tracker inputs, full connectivity, isolated PV connections, a display screen, fully programmable charge settings, and an active cooling system. The new metal chassis design and fully covered electrical connections enhance safety and modernize the appearance in line with the latest Victron product series.
MPPT: Ultra-fast maximum power point tracking.
The SmartSolar RS charge controller can be connected to a PV array from 80 to 450 V Voc, and it can efficiently charge your 48 V battery bank with 100 A or 200 A. The charge settings are fully programmable and can be configured for different battery chemistries: lead-acid, lithium, and more.
Configuration and monitoring with VictronConnect
The SmartSolar RS charge controller can be remotely controlled and configured via Bluetooth with the VictronConnect app. The app allows you to configure the device, manage it, and get data at a glance, such as battery voltage and current, PV voltage and current, data history, and trends.
Adding units installed in series
The SmartSolar RS charge controller is equipped with VE.Can bus ports. These allow communication with additional SmartSolar RS and VE.Can MPPT units. Additional units are simply connected in series with an RJ45 cable.
When connected to each other, all individual chargers will synchronize their charging stages. For monitoring purposes, they can also send their data through the same cable to a GX device (e.g., a Cerbo GX).
Remote monitoring and control
If the GX device is connected to the Internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) provides you with access to the full power of your SmartSolar RS charge controllers.
If your installation is connected to a GX device and the Internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) provides you with access to the full power of your MPPT, anytime, anywhere, for free;
For remote installations – even if there is no Internet connection nearby – you can monitor your MPPT by connecting the GlobalLink 520.
SmartSolar Display
The front of the SmartSolar RS charge controller is equipped with a display. The display shows volts, charge current, and battery voltages of both banks, individually, including current figures and totals, as well as the unit's status, and any error codes.
I/O Connections
The SmartSolar RS charge controller is equipped with a programmable relay and options for remote temperature and voltage sensing. The remote input can accept Victron's smallBMS as well as other types of BMS with "Charge-Enable" signals.
