A solar charger recovers energy from your solar panels, and stores it in your 12V or 24V lead-acid batteries. Using the latest and fastest technology, the BlueSolar maximizes this energy 'harvest', by intelligently managing it to achieve a full charge in the shortest possible time. The BlueSolar will keep your battery in good condition and extend its life.
By continuously monitoring the voltage and current output of your solar (PV) panels, MPPT technology ensures that every available drop of energy is harvested and stored. The benefit of this technology is most apparent in conditions where light intensity is constantly changing, such as when the sky is partially clouded.
Remotely monitor and control the many functions of your BlueSolar MPPT charger by connecting a Bluetooth Smart dongle (optional) and pairing it with your smartphone or other device via VictronConnect. If your installation is connected to the internet, the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal provides access to the full power of your MPPT, anytime, anywhere: both services are free. For remote installations without internet access or nearby phone signal, you may be able to monitor your MPPT by pairing it via Bluetooth to a device with LoRaWAN technology (long range wide area network), available as an option.
The BlueSolar's intelligent load output prevents the damage caused by deep discharge, by ensuring that a set of batteries is gradually discharged below 50%. The function is dependent on a smart algorithm to prevent battery voltage from dropping below a set level. If this happens, the BlueSolar immediately disconnects the load. If the load has been disconnected, the BlueSolar will allow the load to reconnect every 3 minutes, thereby restoring battery voltage to the set level. If needed, these settings can be overridden and the entire range of battery voltages can be selected. This function, BatteryLife, extends the life of your battery.
When a solar charge controller cannot recharge the battery to 100% on a daily basis, it can lead to a battery oscillating between a 'partially charged' state and a 'deep discharge' state. This is detrimental to lead-acid batteries and can damage them within weeks or months. The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the use of the battery and, if necessary, will progressively disconnect the load by lower and lower until the harvested energy is sufficient to fully recharge the battery. From then on, the load disconnection threshold will be modulated daily, ensuring that the battery is not over-discharged (even if the charge is not 100% every day). This function, BatteryLife, extends the life of your battery.
