LiFePO4 battery: it prevents undervoltage, overvoltage and overheating of the cells
The first line of protection is cell balancing. All Victron LiFePO4 batteries incorporate cell balancing.
The second line of protection consists of:
The VE.Bus BMS is the heart of the second line of protection.
However, not all loads or chargers can be controlled directly by the VE.Bus BMS.
In order to turn off these loads or chargers, several Cyrix switches controllable by the VE.bus BMS are available: Cyrix-Li-load
The Cyrix-Li-load will switch off when its control input becomes floating.
If the battery voltage recovers after disconnection (which will happen when no other load is connected to the battery), the BMS output will rise and the Cyrix will reactivate after 30 seconds.
After 3 reactivation attempts, the Cyrix will remain deactivated until the battery voltage is above 13V (26 or 52V respectively) for at least 30 seconds (which means the battery is being charged). Alternatively, a Protect battery can be used (advantage: very low power consumption).
A built-in transient voltage suppressor will limit voltage spikes that may occur when the Cyrix suddenly switches off due to overvoltage or overheating of the cells.
