The Cyrix is used as a second line of protection for batteries. It has several important functions:
Undervoltage protection: If the battery voltage becomes too low, the Cyrix will shut off the load to prevent damage to its cells.
Overvoltage protection: If the battery voltage becomes too high due to excessive charging or high temperature, the Cyrix will stop or reduce the charging current to prevent potential problems.
Extreme temperature protection: The Cyrix takes into account the battery temperature and will shut down if the temperature becomes too high (>50°C) or too low (<0°C) to prevent damage.
Load and charger control: The Cyrix can also be used to shut down or control certain loads or chargers that cannot be directly controlled by the main battery management system (BMS).
Starting assistance: The Cyrix can also assist with starting by connecting a lead-acid starter battery and a LiFePO4 battery in parallel when certain conditions are met, which can be useful in certain scenarios.
Voltage spike suppression: The Cyrix is equipped with a built-in transient voltage suppressor to limit voltage spikes that can occur when the Cyrix relay suddenly deactivates due to overvoltage or overheating of the battery cells.
In summary, the Cyrix is an essential device for ensuring battery safety and protection by shutting down or controlling loads and chargers in case of undervoltage, overvoltage, extreme temperatures, or other dangerous conditions for the batteries.
⚠️Only compatible with a system equipped with a Ve Bus BMS or a MiniBMS. For a lithium battery from a brand other than Victron Energy, use the classic Cyrix CT.⚠️
